Readers,

Today on

Live I got to chat with , whose second memoir, Proof of Life: Let Go, Let Love, and Stop Looking for Permission to Live Your Life will be published by Dutton on July 8th.

The book is a unique hybrid—part memoir, part self-help, interspersed with Pastiloff’s poetry. It’s about letting go of the self-defeating restrictions we put on ourselves, and no longer letting naysayers (and our projections about naysayers, real and imagined) get in our way. It’s about connecting with the essence of who we are and what we really want at a deep level, then allowing ourselves to be and have everything that means the most to us. It’s also about going easy on ourselves when we make choices that lead us, at least temporarily, in directions we’d rather not go in.

We had a great conversation about the book, and also about other things—like how sometimes you have to find the courage to say “no” to things that aren’t right for you so that you can make room for things that are right, and how hard that can be in the moment. That includes figuring out which agents and other professionals to enlist, and which to part ways with, an experience we’ve both had.

Our interview is at the top. ⬆️ Give it a watch…
