I'm going for this book! It's returned me to thinking about a personal essay I started nearly 20 years ago after a car accident that impacted my health for years. A neck injury is invisible, just like chronic fatigue, and it produces a miasma around you that people often relate to as not real, circumstantial or self-serving. The difficulty in getting medical professionals and others around you to take you seriously is devastating, as well as wondering if you'll ever be fully functional again.
