Thanks for the explanation... I've been wondering about that too. So they aren't separate Substacks, they are themes within a Substack, is that right?
Maybe the word usage is from typeset days, where vertical typeset columns would be used in print publications. Today, it's an anachronism!
Columns or sections would be the magazine or newspaper equivalent of this digital/online publication term, Bette.
