"It’s my hope that the book can provide comfort and companionship to new parents struggling, as I did, under the weight of our impossible and contradictory mythologies of motherhood..."
I’m reading Ecology of a Cracker Childhood and the structure is similar to how Nancy describes The Fixed Stars: love a memoir with a broader commentary and research woven in! I was so excited to read this book that I evidently preordered it twice 😆 - two arrived yesterday and I can’t wait to dive in.
Love this...even though I'm past my "parenting years" I'm actually back on the job parenting my grandson part-time after the death of his mom--my daughter. I often regretted learning most of my better parenting skills after I raised my own kids when I was a parent educator (ugh...terrible term) for divorcing parents, so it's probably a good idea to check out this book now.
"It’s tempting sometimes to never write at all but instead to just carry around that image of the perfect thing you’ll never quite be able to make." oof. yeah.
I am so excited for this book! And I loved reading this, Nancy and Sari :)
This sounds like such a necessarily honest read.
Cannot wait to read her new book. Sounds perfect, just what we need right now.
thanks, Susan!

PS Nancy's book just showed up in my Bookshop email this morning! Brava!
Thanks for sharing, Sari!
Thank YOU, Nancy.
