"If it was easy, it wouldn’t be worth doing. You’re not supposed to know what you’re doing at the beginning—you figure it out along the way. So just start."
Being a newcomer, I love to read the interviews and Author Questionnaire because it opens for me the inner life and technics of the creativity of others. It is like a Literary Institute, I never attended. Thank you, Sari. And congratulations on your new book, Lilly! It is so lovely to call a book about female friendship - "First Love."
Great to see Lily here! Congratulations on the new book, Lily and great post, Sari. And I am definitely "figuring it out along the way" so thanks for that.
Thank you Lilly for this..."Reading counts as writing. Going to the museum counts as writing."
I often feel bad for not reading enough, can't seem to find enough time/energy in the day to do it but it's a reminder that writers experiencing the world can count for something.
Sari- I love all your interviews, can't wait for the next one!
Lilly is such a favorite of mine! Working with her (no doubt part of the work she does that stymies her ability to get the writing time she needs for her own work) was infinitely helpful. She is directness and knowledge wrapped in accessibility and kindness--which we can see here. It's wonderful to read more about her process here, and I have her book sitting on the table for my weekend reading. Thank you, Sari, for interviewing one of the great young writers (and supporters of writers) on the landscape today.
I love the energy in your voice, Lilly. So clear and honest and propulsive. I’m going to get your book on friendship. Thank you, and thank you Sari! Love this series.

It's gratifying that my comments are liked both, by Lilly and Sari. They are no only comments, thy are my sincere thoughts. Thank you.

I love learning about people’s writing process. Thanks for asking her!

Love this!
Oooh, I loved this so much! The not knowing is also what I love most about being an artist- that’s where the magic lingers. Off to buy her book…
