Rosie, I love the cover of The Slow Road North. I love the idea of slow, how grief is something you climb out of, slowly. Grief can’t be rushed. Nor can writing, I’ve found. Easy, now, Rosie. You’ve earned it.

I loved the naming of daydreaming on the couch as being important to writing! And sending this piece to my mom who has been telling me for years about the book she has in her head.

Congrats on your memoir, Rosie! "Tough topcoat" indeed. I think this will resonate with lots of writers doing deep personal work on death, loss, and grief at the same time everyone around the globe was experiencing the pandemic. We're badasses, us memoirists.

I’m working on a book that could be similar to yours, Rosie, and I’m looking forward to read your memoir soon!

Thanks for another inspiring Q@A. My (half) Irish eyes are smiling at you Rosie 🍀😊 … trying to write and welcome the scrutiny. Perfect word.

Dear Rosie,

I cannot WAIT to read The Slow Road North. Just ordered it. Loved reading your answers here and so glad you have found your place. Please give the McDonnells best wishes, too, when you see them. Angus was a dear friend of my grandparents and I feel I have seen wonderful glimpses of Glenarm and the Castle through her journals and stories. Can't wait to see more through your book. Welcome Home and best luck on your new book!

Nancy

I loved reading this on a Pacific Northwest late summer morning. I'm half Irish descent, and how you describe the weather where you are is identical to the weather in this part of the world. Be outside gardening, walking, birdwatching, savoring while you can! Your story inspires me and I look forward to reading both your books.
